SLC – Alberta

Welcome to the Senior Liberals’ Commission, Alberta

Registered Liberals, who are 60 years of age or older residing in Alberta, are automatically members of the Senior Liberals’ Commission and its Alberta Section. So, welcome to the SLCA. Whether you live in High Level, High River, Calgary, Edmonton, or Lethbridge, urban or rural, you are invited to become actively involved.

Here are some ways to do so:

  • Senior Representative on your local Electoral District Association (EDA);
  • Policy committee;
  • Engage seniors in the community, such as starting a Senior Liberals Group;
  • Become a member of the SLCA board;
  • Run for an elected position;
  • Volunteer for local Liberal events, such as candidate meet and greets, barbecues, campaigns, election scrutineer.

Our Liberal constitution ensures that every Electoral District Association (EDA) includes a Senior Representative as a voting member. Our goal is to have a Senior Rep on every riding executive in Alberta.

Senior Liberals are also active in Policy. Seniors are an important voice. Many issues of importance to seniors form the Liberal Party of Canada’s platform. There are resolutions the Policy Committee has put forward that end up being prioritized by the Liberal Party of Canada. Policy resolution development and advocacy is ongoing.

Becoming a member of, or starting, a Senior Liberals Commission Group is an opportunity to get to know other Liberals in your community. If one does not exist in your riding, and you are interested in forming one, contact us by email, and we’ll help you get started.

Our SLCA Board is always looking for people who are interested in leading or supporting roles for our committees.

Whether we are nearing an election or not, we need more senior Liberals to consider running for office. Representation matters.

Seniors make a significant contribution to our community and electoral process. We welcome your thoughts, ideas, comments, and questions. Feel free to contact the Alberta SLC section. Your voice is needed and appreciated,

Cal Towns, Chair, Alberta
